Meet Our Founder

Briana A. Thomas

Briana A. Thomas is a Washington, D.C.-based historian, journalist, and tour guide who specializes in the research of D.C. history and culture. Briana is the author of the Black history book, Black Broadway in Washington, D.C. Briana is the Arts and Culture Writer for Washingtonian Magazine, and a frequent contributor to Smithsonian Magazine. She has also been published in the historic Afro-American newspaper and the Washington Post throughout her journalism career. Briana’s educational D.C. history walking tour company has been featured on television networks such as ABC, NBC and CBS.

She earned a Master of Journalism degree from the University of Maryland-College Park and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communications from Greensboro College. She is the assistant pastor of Light Church located in DC.
